Jose Mourinho is known for his memorable, yet very crazy decisions throughout his managerial career but the game in which he ordered Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso to get sent off while managing Real Madrid was probably his craziest.
The manager, formerly known as the Special One, is one of the best of all time, however, some of his decision-making wasn’t on that level.
From infamous press conference rants for his former teams of Manchester United and Chelsea, or selling certain players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, some of Jose Mourinho’s decisions have been bad, but never as outrageous as when he managed at Real Madrid.
When he was the manager of Real Madrid in 2010, Mourinho had already qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
However, already 4-0 up against Ajax and with a ‘dead rubber’ game left against Auxerre in the group stages, Mourinho brought over Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso to the sideline.

The Special One asked for both players to do what no player has ever been told to do; get sent off.
With both players already on a yellow card from prior games and were one away each from suspension, Jose Mourinho wanted them out for the Auxerre game so they could go through to the knockout stages with clean slates.
Alonso did his duty and got sent off, picking up his second yellow card for time-wasting.
However, Ramos took it one step further than his Spanish compatriot.
Ramos decided the best way for him to secretly get himself sent off was to take a goal-kick and take ages doing so. After being sent off, Ramos went to shake referee Craig Thompson’s hand.
Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid was punished for the stunt.
“Players Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos were fined €20,000, Iker Casillas was fined €10,000 and Jerzy Dudek was fined €5,000,” UEFA said in a statement.
“The red cards given to Alonso and Ramos stand, and they have therefore been suspended for one Uefa club competition match. The control and disciplinary body has decided to fine Real Madrid CF €120,000. An appeal may be lodged against the ruling within three days of the dispatch of the reasoning for the decision.”
So even though Jose Mourinho has pulled a few crazy stunts throughout his career, this could be the top of his charts.
